"Guitarist Collective" - see www.guitarcollective.org.uk/forum for details of what it is about. It is a bunch of musicians (mainly guitarists) who
have a monthly task to create some music that fits a task
and then we all feedback on each others attempts).
Here are mine, with my latest entries are at the
bottom of the page.

Guitarist
Collective - (MAY : 2009 Task)
Task was to
create something without using the 2 E strings and to
keep simple - no overdubs;-
Having just
completed a 29 hour journey from deep jungle in Brazil
, I got home exhausted but.. eager to have a go at the
May task! - so, Saturday afternoon (got up very late!)
I decided to construct something that would fit the
task. Due to the insistence on simplicity from the taskmaster,
I decided to leave the variax in its case along with
associated paraphernalia - multi-effects and guitar
synth, so just used a cheapo Chinese Strat copy through
a pocket pod and then into the recorder.
I
dialled up a simple beat on the zoom drum machine hit
play/record and in 1 take got this!
Sorry
for the poorer than usual sound quality - due probably
to using a drone bass note.
I
used a capo on fret 3 and decided to use the bottom
A string (note C) as a drone bass, playing the strings
DG and B only for the chord/melody.
On
listen back if I were to do this again properly I wouldn't
use the bottom A (note C) string as a drone and would
multi track a proper bass line.. But the task required
simplicity and the result was what you hear - not bad
for 1 take!!!
I
hope I threw in enough rhythmic riffs to make it an
interesting piece.
I
also withheld the temptation to play proper edited drums.
Due
to jet lag I hit the stop button a bit too early so
the ending is more abrupt than I intended!!!!!!

Guitarist
Collective - (JUNE: 2009 Task)
Task
this month was to create an INTRODUCTION to a tune/song, which
I thought was
a pretty original task actually! - with the addition
that the entire "intro" should have a pedalled
bass note!! anyway, eventually I came up
with something which is very prog rock / pomp
rock!!!
I
may return to this later...... bwah ha ha ha ha ah ha ha aghhhh
ha!

Guitarist
Collective - (JULY: 2009 Task)
Task
this month was to create something using "polyrythms"
which means the main body is in 1 time gignature, whilst something
else played over it is in a different signature that in theory
would clash!- I honestly have never even thought of doing
this before and found this task hard.
For
the techy's reading this, the main riff is in a count of 7
and the polystuff is in good old 4/4
